WELCOME.

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at SUNY at Buffalo.

I examine the politics of punishment in the U.S., with a focus on the way policy and court actors use and mobilize around discourses of trauma, addiction, and care. My work has appeared in Law & Social Inquiry, Punishment & Society, The Russell Sage Journal of the Social Sciences, Social & Legal Studies, and Frontiers: a Journal of Women Studies.

I was a 2022-23 Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Completion Fellow, and a Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation Emerging Scholar Award recipient. My research has also been supported by the Mark & Judy Yudof Fellowship for Science, Policy, and Ethics, and the UMN College of Liberal Arts Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship.
